I.                   Deborah – a wife, prophetess and judge.
A.    Judge – the only female – 4:4.
B.     A mother in Israel - 5:7.
C.     Prophetess – one of four – 4:4.
Deborah’s position as a prophetess, indicating that her message was from God, is not unique in the Bible, but it was unusual. Other prophetesses included Miriam (Ex 15:20), Huldah (2 Kgs 22:14), and Anna (Lk 2:36).
a.       Called for Barak & informed him of the Lord’s job for him – 4:6-7.
b.      Answered Barak’s cowardice with direct and decisive resolution – 4:9.
c.       Sent Barak to face the enemy at the right time – 4:14.
II.                Jael – a wife & a warrior – 4:11, 21-22.
A.    Wife – of Heber the Kenite, distant relative of Moses’ father-in –law – 4:11, 21.
B.     Warrior – fearless and decisive – put an end to the man who terrorized God’s people for 20 years – 4:21.
III.             Implications:
A.    For the family.
B.     For the church.
 
 
Although it is not the norm in the way God does things, when men hesitate God can use courageous women to get the job done!
