A Sneak Peak Into Heaven's Perspective on Adversity

John’s experiences teach us about the “upside down” rationale of the kingdom ways – v. 9.
- WHO – John the disciple – v. 1.
- WHERE – in exile on Patmos – v. 1.

John’s encounter with glorified Jesus on the Lord’s Day puts focus on the right person – vv. 12-16.
- It is not insignificant that Jesus was standing among the churches – v. 12.

What John saw:
- Jesus looked like a man – v. 13.
- His robe reached His feet – v. 13.
- He had a golden belt around His chest – v. 13.
- His head and hair were as white as wool and as snow – v. 14.
- His eyes were like a flame of fire – v. 14.
- His feet were like polished bronze purified in fire – v. 15.
- His voice was like the sound of many waters – v. 15.
- He held seven stars in his right hand – v. 16.
- There was a double-edged sword proceeding out of His mouth – v. 16.
- His face shone like the sun at full strength – v. 16.

After experiencing Jesus, John is commissioned and encouraged – vv. 10-11, 17-20.
- A loud voice instructed John to write down these words for the edification of the seven churches in Asia – vv. 10-11.
- At the sight of Jesus all John could do was fall at His feet – v. 17.

Jesus encouraged John with His touch and words vv. 17-18.
- Touching John with His right hand
- Relaying His power, eternality, and victory overall
- John is commissioned to record what is given him – v. 19.
- Jesus upholds His servants in His hand – v. 20.
While many believe that a closer walk with God will bring health and prosperity His greatest work in our lives is often accomplished in the times of our greatest adversity.
