Return to Your First Love (#1 Ephesus)

Revelation 2:1-7

Jesus’ attribute applicable to their situation:

  • The One who holds His servants – v. 1.
  • The One who stands by His church – v. 1.

 

Commendation: Ephesus was

  •  Serving church – v. 2.
  • Sacrificing church – v. 2.
  • Steadfast church – v. 2.
  • Separated church – vv. 2, 6.
  • Suffering church – v. 3.

Rebuke - they have abandoned their first love – v. 4.

 

Instruction:

  1. Remember your former position – v. 5.
  2. Repent – change your mind about your present behavior (URGENT) – v. 5.
  3. Return to your first works (URGENT) – v. 5.
  4. Or be Removed, if you don’t! – v. 5.

 

Promise – eternal reward of enjoyment of the tree of life for the faithful ones! – v. 7.

 

Main Idea: Our works for the Lord must be energized by our love for Him in order for our light to shine brightly in the world!
