OUTLINE
I. Jesus’ divine courage – fearless and undeflected – vv. 12-14, 19-24.
A. Controlled – allowing them to arrest Him – v. 12.
B. Composed – going through with their crazy antics – v. 13.
C. Candid – handling the interrogation by Annas – vv. 19-21.
D. Calm – dealing with unjust and illegal physical brutality – vv. 22-24.
II. Peter’s human courage – fearful and failing – vv. 15-18, 25-27.
A. When self-preservation is the main goal, fear of losing life guarantees the failure of courage – vv. selfish rather than self-sacrificial – it’s main purpose is self-preservation – vv. 17-18, 25-27.
i. Selfish rather than selfless
ii. Doomed from the start – vv. 15-16.
iii. Not an accident – vv. 15-18, 25-27.
