OUTLINE


 

I.                   An empty grave gives reason to believe – vv. 1-10.

Early morning hours on Sunday, April 5, A.D. 33.

A.    Mary Magdalene & the women found the stone rolled away – v.1.

B.     Peter & John found the grave to be empty with the wrappings still there – vv. 2-7.

C.     We can believe without knowing everything – John did – vv. 8-9.

looked (βλεπω)             beheld attentively (θεωρεω)               perceived (faith) (ειδον) (πιστευω)

D.    His empty grave makes Jesus superior to all other deities around the world worshipped by men.

II.                Risen Christ – to adore & proclaim – vv. 10-18.

A.    Mary stays behind and talks to the angels – vv. 10-13.

B.     Mary encounters Jesus – vv. 14-18.

                                                              i.      Not recognizing Him at first – vv. 14-15.

                                                            ii.      Him when He calls her by name – v. 16.

                                                          iii.      Adoring Jesus & proclaiming His resurrection to the disciples – vv. 17-18.

 

Belief in the resurrection leads to adoration of the Lord and proclamation of the good news.
