The Bread of Life Can Satisfy Our Deepest Needs

OUTLINE

 

I.                   Jesus is the Bread of life – vv. 43-50

a.  To come to Him, one must be compelled by the Father - v. 44.

b.   All have an opportunity to be saved - vv. 45-46.

c.       Eternal life is gained by faith in Christ – vv. 47-50.

                                                              i.      It is REAL life

                                                            ii.      It begins at the point of salvation

                                                          iii.      It will last forever

II.                Eating His flesh & drinking His blood – requirements for eternal life – vv. 51, 53-58.

a.       His flesh and blood are the only means by which life can be gained – vv. 51, 53-54.

b.      His flesh and blood are real food and drink – v. 55, 58.

c.       Eating and drinking = abiding – vv. 56-57.

III.             Christ’s message compels strong distinct reactions from people – vv. 41-42, 59-71.

a.       Some never bother to get to know Him well and have a hard time with His claims – vv. 41-42.

b.      Focused on the material, others take offense at His teaching – vv. 52, 59-63, 66.

c.       Yet others just refuse to believe – vv. 64-65, 70-71.

d.      But some do surrender to His deity – vv. 67-69.
